Older Erzgebirge “Striezelkinder” (Christmas market children) with tray, standing on a star.
The figures were designed in the early 1930s by Max Schanz, long-time director of the Seiffen School of Wood Toy Design.
They were inspired by a woodcut by Ludwig Richter from 1853.
This particular group is considered the most famous depiction of the Striezel children.
It received the Gold Medal at the 1937 Paris World Exhibition.
Made by Seiffener Volkskunst Erzgebirge, fully hand-painted and crafted in the traditional way.
