Midcentury ceramic wall plate by Herta Huber-Roethe from Achdorf, Landshut, produced in the early 1950s. The characteristic Garda motif is created with sgraffito technique, carved into the soft ceramic.
After the first firing, the plate was hand-painted and fired a second time – a traditional and elaborate process.
Herta Huber-Roethe and her husband Ernst ran the Achdorf pottery in Landshut from the 1930s until 1984.
