Studio pottery by the German ceramic artist
Barbara Stehr.
Educated in Hannover and Hamburg and influenced by Bontjes van Beek,an important German ceramic artist of the modern period, whose work was closely aligned with the functional and restrained formal language associated with the Bauhaus era, Barbara Stehr developed a glaze-focused artistic language.
This smaller vase features a warm red-brown to dark brown running glaze with a soft transition into a light cream neck. The surface appears calm and deliberately controlled, with subtle texture in the transition area. Compact, balanced proportions.
Dating: 1970s/80s (stylistic attribution).
Incised signature “B. Stehr” to the base.
Condition: excellent. No chips or cracks
